FANS MEETING WITH NEW CEO CHRISTIAN PURSLOW

AVST attended a meeting of the Fans’ Consultation Group on Tuesday 13th November. It was our first opportunity to meet new CEO Christian Purslow and Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Paul Tyrrell. The FCG will be meeting the club again next month to discuss some of the operational issues with the respective department heads. Here is a summary of the matters that were discussed from our meeting a couple of weeks ago. SIR DOUG ELLIS 1924 – 2018

On behalf of our members, we are sad to read of Sir Doug’s death. Fully committed to Aston Villa until the last and also a generous contributor to the  Trust he will be missed by all who came into contact with him. Whilst at times a divisive figure he was a great custodian of our Club. Our condolences to his family and friends.

FCG – NEW OWNERS

Peter Warrilow and Mo Razzaq were invited to an informal Fans Consultation Group meeting last night to meet the representatives of Wes Edens and Naseef Sawaris. The intention was for them to meet supporters and to listen to their views about the club, good and bad, as well as on the workings of the FCG. As it was an introductory meeting we did not discuss anything at length but it was reassuring that they wanted to maintain a dialogue with fans and stressed the importance of…

Investment in Aston Villa

Members and supporters will no doubt be delighted to hear of the 55% investment made by Messrs Sawiris and Edens. This appears to have resolved the short-term funding issue faced by our football club. Whilst it is acknowledged that the last two weeks must have been difficult for senior people at the club, it is disappointing that they did not respond to our request for a meeting. Accordingly, we have repeated that request and are hopeful that on this occasion we will be able to…

This provided a fascinating insight into what is happening at Villa Park and Bodymoor Heath in particular. Full minutes of the AGM will be posted separately. When that and the formalities of the AGM were complete, we were treated to a fantastic hour of Q&As with two Aston Villa legends from two different eras. They played in two of our most successful and enjoyable…
