It is a start, but….

Another week, what seems like another 500 years of fretting about the Villa. First of all, welcome aboard to our new members. I know that we have attracted some attention in these uncertain times and we will do all we can to ensure the club is on an even keel. As always though, not only is your voice important but so is that of your friends and family members. Please encourage them to sign up as well. The more members we have the more potent…

What next? (Part Two)

The AVST Board love the Summer normally. It is when we get to step away from football, watch a bit of cricket and do all of the family stuff we put off for ten months each year. It hasn’t worked out like that over the last few days though… We released a statement what seems like weeks rather than days ago now requesting that the club make clear to our members, and all supporters, what Plan B entails. We said that our support can deal…

AGM

Last night we enjoyed a really productive and informative AGM. Initially, we had a Q&A session with Keith Wyness and Steve Round. This provided a fascinating insight into what is happening at Villa Park and Bodymoor Heath in particular. Full minutes of the AGM will be posted separately. When that and the formalities of the AGM were complete, we were treated to a fantastic hour of Q&As with two Aston Villa legends from two different eras. They played in two of our most successful and enjoyable…

Villa Park approved as Asset of Community Value

Aston Villa Supporters Trust (AVST) and My Old Man Said (MOMS) are pleased to announce that Villa Park stadium is now listed as an asset of community value (ACV) – a move designed to protect the stadium should it ever be put up for sale. CYRILLE REGIS

AVST is sad to hear the news this morning that Cyrille Regis has died. Cyrille was a true gentleman and a Midlands football legend. A prolific player, having made 614 league appearances and scored 158 league goals – 12 in 52 between 1991 and 1993 for Villa. A pioneer in British football, best remembered as one of the “Three Degrees” who changed football forever in the 1970s. He was hugely respected by everyone in the game. Big Ron rightly commented this morning: “He was an…

FAN ENGAGEMENT – IT’S MORE THAN THAT!

“Football clubs are still not grasping the need for genuine, properly structured dialogue between fans and their clubs,” according to Kevin Rye – a consultant with over 14 years’ experience of working with supporters all over the UK and Europe. The FSF fans survey results show that clubs are getting better at recognising the needs of supporters when it comes to match-day. However, there is too much focus on ‘fan engagement’ drawn from the United States with the fan being a ‘customer’. We have long…

TICKET OFFICE CLOSED

As we shared last week following the FCG meeting the club is migrating to a new ticketing software system. This will now be hosted by Top Tix. The transition will involve temporary closure of the Ticket Office – online, on the phone and in person from 5pm today. Supporters will not be able to purchase tickets for matches, stadium tours, soccer schools or season tickets until week commencing Monday July 10th. We trust that the new vendor will provide an improved experience for supporters.
