    Happy New Year Villans

    By Admin | AVST News | Comments are Closed | 31 December, 2013 | 0

Well, 2013 is coming to a welcome end. Having spent much of last season looking at the trap door, a late upturn in our fortunes meant we entered the new season with hope. After a good start against the big guns, things have started to slip as of late and we are beginning to look nervously over our shoulder yet again.

It is welcome news that Lambert may now enter the January transfer window to get in experienced players to compliment the youth. The style of play certainly needs to improve as we come to see the Villa win and do not want to watch us chase shadows with limited possession. Hopefully, Lambert can turn this around. We need some stability in management now so we hope he has it in him to get the right players in and sort out our current predicament.

2013 also saw the Villa Trust become active again. We welcome a new board of volunteers who will push us towards a relaunch over the next year. My thanks goes to David Michael, Chris Knight, Anne-Marie Fern and Joe Al-Khayat for stepping forward to take on this challenge. Thanks also to Peter Warrilow and Mike Jeffries for their ongoing commitment.

We would also like to thank our new members who have recently joined us and to those who have renewed in supporting the principles of supporter representation.

Whilst we have met the Club’s CEO and CFO in the last few months, the power of supporter involvement is best highlighted by Anne-Marie’s sterling effort in engaging with the Club and the fans on safe standing. Anne-Marie has shown how we can work with the Club for the benefit of fans and has passed her survey across to fellow Supporter Trusts in the Premier League. The momentum is shifting on the Safe Standing debate. We will continue to represent our members nationally in our workings with Supporters Direct, FSF and our fellow premier league supporter trusts.

Finally, to all our members and followers, we wish you a happy new year, and may 2014 bring an upturn in our fortunes on the pitch.
