The AVST board are working hard to increase the profile and membership of the Trust. You will have seen two new patrons recently sign up and now we can bring you news of a third.
If you ask many Villa supporters to name modern day legends then the name Ian Taylor invariably crops up. The boyhood fan who came into the professional game late and got to live out his dreams by representing the club he supports. Who scored a goal in a Wembley cup final win and played over 200 games for us. The guy who makes appearances at games sitting with the supporters rather than in the VIP area. Ian, of course, has continued his association with the club after hanging up his boots, whether that be appearing on AVTV, having a column in the programme or in his role as a club ambassador. We are delighted to have him on board as a patron.
He commented: “I’ve been a Villa fan all my life. The club has always been in my blood and I was lucky enough to live out any fans dream of playing for my boyhood club. Playing on the hallowed turf regularly at Villa park and being part of the last Villa team to win a trophy at Wembley makes my time as a Villa player a very special period of my life. However the love affair didn’t end there as first and foremost I’m a Villa fan so I’m delighted to become a Patron of the official Aston Villa Supporters Trust.
