The Aston Villa Supporters’ Trust is very disappointed at the club’s decision to launch PPV at this most difficult time for fans.
To launch a long-term strategy, taking advantage of locked-out fans is a breach of trust in these straitened times. PPV puts Aston Villa’s fixtures behind a paywall until the start of November. To charge an additional £14.95 when fans are already committed to multiple subscriptions feels like being turned upside down and having one’s pockets emptied. This is a disincentive to committed season-ticket holding supporters of the future and threatens to diminish the matchday experience. Going to a game isn’t just about the football. It’s community. The club should be mindful of that – and those who create the truest atmosphere.
For the first time in its short history, the Premier League are taking a fundamental step away from the equal share of rights that all twenty clubs have enjoyed.
