The current rules under which Aston Villa Supporters’ Trust operates were adopted on its formation in 2001. The Trust’s directors have given thought to those rules; after much discussion, and to bring the rules in line with current practice are recommending that we adopt a model set of rules used by many Supporters Trusts of a similar size. Those rules are sponsored by Supporters Direct and approved by The Financial Conduct Authority.
In short, the rules set out the constitution of the Trust and cover, in particular, the following areas:
1. The objectives of the Trust as a supporters’ community mutual society
2. The powers the Trust has to achieve its objectives including:
a. to acquire shares in AVFC
b. to secure representation on the club board
3. Membership rights
4. Duties & Powers of the board of directors
5. Conduct of General Meetings.
6. Voting powers of members
The proposed new rules can be viewed here prior to the forthcoming AGM on 16 January 2019 – details of which will be confirmed in due course.
