Into our third week of the national lockdown, it is fair to say that we find ourselves in uncharted waters. COVID-19 is bringing a change to the UK and it’s clear that lots of things are going to have in the way we live our lives.
There is ongoing uncertainty over the remainder of this season and the Trust has already reached out to the Club to get answers to the questions you’re all probably asking.
The situation is still fluid with the Club, given the current circumstances. It’s been mooted that the Premier League may try to finish the season by mid-July to avoid a multi-million-pound refund to the broadcasters. The Premier League, EFL, PFA and LMA have issued a joint statement. However, given the Government’s advice that restrictions may be in place through the summer, it could just be wishful thinking from the Premier League. Another case of match day going fans being disregarded by the football authorities. As they say money talks.
We will again be reaching out to the Club to get an update for supporters and as soon as we know more, we’ll feed this back to you.
Finally, we’d like to say a huge thank you to all those who are on the front line in the nation’s battle against the coronavirus – whether that’s as part of the NHS or emergency services, other kinds of essential work, or caring for relatives and friends.
So we all need to stay at home to keep ourselves and each other safe at the moment.
