We are now approaching a month of being in the national lockdown to fight COVID-19. Our lives are slowly adjusting to circumstances that were unthinkable just two months ago. There’s no doubt that this is a very difficult time for all concerned.
People are coming together to overcome COVID-19 and its devastating impact across society. As we all watch the news unfold, it’s clear that there is a greater need to assist and bolster healthcare workers and carers who are on the frontlines working to contain this virus. To that end, we have partnered up with Birmingham Central Mosque to support University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) in the urgent fight against the pandemic.
Due to their shift patterns and other vital duties, NHS staff find it hard to get to the shops. So, UHB is setting up shops in all of its hospitals where staff can pop in and pick up cupboard staples at no cost to them.
So we need your help in donating non-perishable foods and toiletries (tinned food, pasta, rice, shower gel, moisturiser etc.). All you need to do is text your name, address and details of items to be donated including quantity to 07971 394 056 and we will arrange collection. All items must be packed appropriately with health and hygiene as a priority. The hospitals will not be accepting donations directly from the public – stay at home and save lives.
Alternatively, perhaps where a collection isn’t possible, you can donate to University Hospitals Birmingham Charity via their Giving Page justgiving.com/uhbcharity. To which we are pleased to kick this appeal off with a donation of £1,000 towards this important cause.
We want to thank again all our key workers, for your selfless commitment as you undertake vitally important roles to protect the health and well-being of our communities as well as maintain key services. We salute you!
